Slasher movies have the reputation of being a repetition of violent scenes of gratuitous violence. My Bloody Valentine is not an exception to this rule. Do not rejoice if you like this type of movie though because the murders, probably due to a small budget, are not graphic. Typical murders where we only see a shadow, a terrified eye, a blood splatter or a weapon that stabs an invisible victim are plentiful.
The characters aren't attaching: they are empty of emotion and the couples are cold. It is hard to tell if the group of friends are in their early or late twenties even though they act like teenagers.
The only element of originality is that most of the movie is held in a mine, something rarely seen before.
