Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice

Authorities thought it was a good idea to condemn the village of Gatlin, in which a cult of children had assassinated all the adults. The survivors sought refuge in a nearby village where John, an impulsive journalist, gathers information.

His son Danny isnít like the other children. The latter gather in cornfields in order to study the prophecy. Everything leads to believe that the cult has returned. Danny has just started a new love relationship that is going well and he doesnít care about what the others try to teach him.

However, when the adults start dying in odd manners, he understands the importance of what he turned his back to. His new enemies wonít let his girlfriend, his father nor himself leave the village alive.

Originality

This sequel redevelops many of the elements that were featured in the original and, sadly, not always the good ones. The atmosphere is absent. While the children in the first movie had memorable faces (that only a mother can tolerate), the new generation renews with both a red and black haired characters that curiously resemble their predecessors but are simply too common.

The murder scenes will make you laugh at their lack of credibility. Their context is completely unrealistic but they are still amusing. The film likes believing that love conquers everything and, therefore, it invests lots of time in developing the family and love relationships. Sometimes, this fact ruins a scene that usually would have been dramatic.

Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice is a legitimate sequel but that doesnít leave the beaten path often enough. It is scared of sacrificing the original formula for a bit of creativity.
