Curse of the Puppet Master

Dr. Magrew dedicates time and effort trying to cheer up the town’s kids by regularly organizing puppet shows.

His last assistant disappeared some time ago and the police’s investigation leads them to the doctor.

Regardless of the events, he quickly acquires a new assistant to whom he entrusts the meticulous confection of a new doll.

Originality

The series had recently muddled its scenario, sometimes with success, sometimes with failure. This episode remains simple but integrates some new elements. Among others, as it was with the last two films, the main characters are in their twenties.

The puppets are greatly neglected in order to leave space for dialogue and, consequently, it is hard to distinguish what made the first Puppet Master movies such amusing adventures.

Excluding the apprentice, the characters are one-dimensional and badly developed. A love story is propelled forward but never concludes. The finale is crude and shows a lack of consideration for the public.
