Ben, a swimming athlete, meets Madison, a seemingly normal girl that attends the same school. After showing her the basics of swimming in the school’s pool, Ben ends up cheating on his girlfriend with the newcomer.

He insists for their adventure to remain secret. However, Madison quickly falls in love with him and when he starts ignoring her, she starts imposing herself in his private life, revealing her obscure side.

Swimfan is one of those films that insults human intelligence. It is a carbon copy of The Crush, Fatal Attraction and numerous other productions that have left their mark (as opposed to this film) in the history of cinema.

The problem is really at the scenario’s level. The actors are not to blame. They do what they can with the task at hand. From start to finish, you will probably predict every “surprise”.

Madison plays a femme fatale but her role simply didn’t work for me. Erik Christensen definitely doesn’t have the charm nor does she have the iron will that I expected. The other characters are plausible and visibly comfortable on the big screen.
