Originality

From the violence point of view, Hellbound : Hellraiser 2 has more to offer than the original. However, its pace and content isnít up to par. The plot brings the viewer from a psychiatric hospital to a possessed mattress and ends up in hell. All of this seems absolutely normal to the filmís characters which are simple humans. Conversely, we spectators are left confused about the why, where and how.

Thankfully, Hellraiser 2 is original and maybe even some excess as with all additions to this franchise. We are told a bit more about the cube, Pinhead, the cenobites and about a truly horrible hell.

The organic special effects are superb; the lasers and electricity beams, on the other hand, arenít so great. There are horrifying sequences of macabre clowns and tortured babies, in screams and images.
