Alice Cooper is not really a good actor. He gives the impression of caring too much about his image to play a shady character. Fortunately, his presence on screen often is entertaining no matter how small the part and it is the case here.
The main problem with Monster Dog is that it’s a werewolf flick without werewolves. They even try hiding this fact with incredible subplots, nightmares, premonitions and other old-fashioned clichés.
Yet, Monster Dog inherits good things from the 80’s. The characters have bad judgment and the soundtrack is cheesy. Still, this might still be a good thing as many people like their horror flicks with a side-order of cheese. There aren’t many special effects because the budget can’t afford it. Moreover, the only thing that looks like a werewolf here fails completely.
Do not miss this film’s final moments. It drives us go through the whole movie all over again via some kind of a music clip, perhaps to inform those who might have fallen asleep during the movie. Very sensitive!
